If you're a DisneyNut, like me, then you've heard of today's blog topic: the Magic Kingdom Expansion. It's supposed to more than double the size of Fantasyland. Work starts as soon as October and the whole thing opens in two phases; one in 2012(assuming we all live) and 2013. Remakes everything from where Ariel’s meet and greet is, moves Dumbo to across from Goofy’s Barnstormer, and goes back to the service road all the way across to the Toon Town Fair Tents. Most of Toon Town will cease to exist, but fear not, Barnstormer and Mickey and Minnie's houses will be safe.
Dumbo is also being redone, a fancier appearance and a second spinner is added to help accomodate the ride's popularity. Those who have been to Disney World know the hugely long lines and the lack of Fast-Pass.
Cinderella gets a larger meet and greet area. She moves away from her hue castle and onto a designated area in which guests can see her fairy godmother transform her rags to the beautiful ballgown. Guests can then either help her practice for the royal ball or train to be one of her knights. Along with Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) gets a meet and greet are as well. Guests can help join the celebration of Aurora’s 16th birthday with the 3 good fairies by making her birthday cards and then surprising her as she enters her party. Ariel’s meet and greet area (See picture at left) is also expanded along with a new attraction similar to the one under construction in Disneyland. It is rumored that the ride will likely use an Omnimover system and a clam shell looking tram/car similar to the ones found in the Nemo ride in EPCOT.
Belle from Beauty and the beast too gets an attraction (See picture at right), along with a “Be Our Guest” restaurant; which I can see becoming quite popular. Soon, Cinderella won’t be the only princess with a castle on the block. Though it will not be as grand in scale as Cinderella’s, it will however, be equally as grand. The adventure begins in the village, at Belle’s father’s house. A magic mirror will then transport guests to the castle, where the Beast will have taken up residence, and have the opportunity to retell the story of Beauty and the Beast for Belle. A small tavern, likely to be a Quick Service, called Gaston’s Tavern will also be available for dining purposes. I personally cannot wait for these to be added to the Magic Kingdom.
So, now that my belated Sunday blog has been done, where have I been? I've been very very busy; I know, excuses, excuses Katie. But in the future, I will try to get this blog updated as soon as I can. But if i don't make a post for a while, don't get upset!

How exciting, Katie! Soo many changes. I like Cinderella best, though... so I dunno if I'll like all the newbies getting more attention. Haha
ReplyDeleteI think it will be interesting to see what Disney does with the park
